Environmental Policy

Mission Statement

From our earliest days at Ben Cruachan Inn, we have worked hard to build a business with a clean, green environmentally friendly mission at its heart.  Everyone at the Inn recognises that our responsibilities to the environment and our community go far beyond legal and regulatory requirements. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our sustainable performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods. We will encourage customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to do the same.

Some of our environmental initiatives include:

  • Air source heating
  • We use energy extracted from the air outside the Inn in order to create a sustainable heat source heating radiators and hot water throughout the building.
  • No plastic straws
  • In 2018 we made the decision to ban plastic straws reducing plastic waste in our local area and are working towards becoming completely plastic free in our bar.
  • Recycling
  • As far as possible, we recycle all rubbish from our guests rooms
  • We separate our plastics, glass, cardboard waste at source
  • Our kitchen team have teamed up with new suppliers who deliver in reusable crating, hugely reducing dependence on plastic packaging
  • Where possible we have installed and use low energy light bulbs and appliances
  • Local suppliers
  • We purposefully work to source local suppliers and strive to use local ingredients in the kitchen of our bar/ restaurant where possible to cut carbon emissions from transport.
  • Community support
  • We are based in a small community and work hard to support our local environment through a number of activities including charity bake sales, fundraising for a community defibrillator to be installed and donations towards maintenance of the iconic St Conan’s Kirk which is situated in our village.

Our General Manager is responsible for ensuring that the green policy is implemented. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.
